MARGOT, EDDY, AND THE SEA...( I I )
Right on time, Eddy came into the "chalet" looking for Margot. She was sitting at a table with two girlfriends, talking and laughing. She raised her hand when she saw him, and motioned for him to come over to the table. The apron and outfit she had been wearing that afternoon was gone; and Eddy was pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful she looked with her shinny black hair cascading over her shoulders and light green blouse. Dark green slacks and black shoes completed her attire. Eddy, come here! I want you to meet my best two girlfriends in the world; Julia,,,Vivian..,this is Eddy...? Realizing that no last names had been exchanged that afternoon, Eddy added: "Navarro".- Eddy Navarro; very glad to meet you both. Won't you sit down for a little while and have a beer with us? suggested Margot. My pleasure. Conditioned to your allowing me to invite you. Eddy ordered and the waitress working that evening brought the beer, oysters, and a shrimp cocktail for Vivian. Eddy felt very comfortable with the three girls, and all were having a great time joking and laughing; until Margot, looking at her watch said "Wow! Time flies! We better get going Eddy. We don't want to miss the floor show.- No, we don't, he agreed, standing up and saying good bye to Margot's friends.- They came out to the to the sidewalk, Eddy having no clue which way they would be going. Margot stepped up to a late model Toyota parked by the curb and opened the passenger door, saying "Climb into my flying rug. Its magical!" and went around to get behind the wheel while Eddy adjusted his safety belt.- I didn't know you had a car, Margot. I was wondering where is the Club, and how we were going to get there. Margot explained while pulling out of the parking space: the car and the chalet belonged to my mother. Unfortunately, she died of cancer over two years ago, and I inherited both, plus a medium size farm about 90 kilometers up the coast. Maybe some day, when you have the time, I'll take you there to see it. It is really nice, with a small clear stream and all. I had a place fixed right next to it as a swimming pool. The water just keeps on coming in and going out. I'm sure you'll like it, Eddy. It sounds real nice, Margot. We'll have to find he time to go see it. Is "El Club Maracas" very far, Margot? No, not at all. We'll be there in a couple of minutes. They parked not far from the door, and inside they were guided to a nice table, not too close to the band. They play really loud said Margot. Any closer and we wouldn't be able to hear each other talk. A waiter in a white jacket brought the menu and asked what would they like to drink while waiting. They ordered two "screwdrivers"and started looking at the menu. I believe I would like a shrimp cocktail, a small salad and a Fillet Mignon medium-rare, said Margot. Is that all right, Eddy? Of course! Sounds so good, I will have exactly the same thing. After two or three drinks, the food arrived and they attacked it ravenously and it was great! They drank, ate, listened to the music and danced until the early morning hours. I am really having a great time, Eddy. "Me too, Margot...too bad my ship leaves tomorrow" So soon? you just got here! "I really hate to go this time, but they will finish loadng at noon tomorrow and off we go, north to San Francisco. I really, really hate to leave. now that I met you...but I'll be back in two - three weeks at the most. Will it be all right to come to see you at the "chalet"? I would really be mad at you, Mr. Navarro if I see your ship and you don't show up. That's good to know, Margot. You know I'll come looking for you. When they finally left the Club, Margot asked where did he want to go. Eddy, not wanting ro go back to the ship yet, asked her to take him to the Hotel, where he intended to stay until boarding time at noon. Margot thanked him for a lovely evening, and in saying good bye, kissed his cheek, climbed in her car and was gone. Eddy felt a certain sadness seeing her leave. Two weeks go by fast, he thought; and I'll be back to see her. She is special...I am very impressed, he admitted to himself.
